how to complete the 2022 challenge
The theme of this year’s challenge is Wipe Out Encephalitis! Complete the challenge and support Team Infectious Encephalitis or Team Autoimmune Encephalitis by following the steps below:
1. Learn about encephalitis One of the biggest challenges faced by the encephalitis community is lack of awareness about the condition. Get up to speed on what it is, who it impacts, the origins of Nicole's Challenge: The Walk to Cure Encephalitis, and how you can make a difference by reading a quick primer about it here. 2. Choose a team to support Nothing like a little friendly competition to raise passion for the encephalitis cause! To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the walk, we’re pushing the challenge one layer deeper than we have in previous years. There’s an estimated 50/50 split between the number of people diagnosed with infectious encephalitis vs. autoimmune encephalitis—but how will that translate into the amount of money each team can raise? Choose whether you will complete the challenge in support of Team Infectious Encephalitis or Team Autoimmune Encephalitis.
4. Set a personal challenge, and invite your friends and family Set a personal challenge to complete sometime between July 28-Sept 30, 2022. For example, you may:
Note that creativity is encouraged. We have a place in the challenge for people of ALL ages and ALL skill levels. Without geographical restrictions for this year’s virtual challenge, don’t forget to recruit friends and family from far and wide. For example, you might choose one weekend during the walk period and ask your loved ones across state lines to join you in a coordinated virtual walk. Or you might simply ask that they donate to your fundraising page. 5. Complete your challenge and Wipe Out Encephalitis! It’s GO time! Join your fellow Wipe Out Encephalitis champions and complete your challenge before September 30, 2022. We encourage you to join us on our inspire.com and private Facebook communities to interact with your fellow teammates, share photos, and cheer each other on. 6. Celebrate what you achieve As you complete your challenge and join the ranks of our Wipe Out Encephalitis finishers, mark your milestones with celebratory photos! We’d love to hear your stories and see the pictures you take. Be sure to send them in to info@encephalitis411.org and tag our account in your posts on social media.
