Encephalitis411 is committed to supporting basic, clinical, and translational research that addresses the needs of the encephalitis community. If you have a research project you would like to discuss, please email [email protected].
Autoimmune encephalitis and genetics
Those who are at any stage of recovery after the diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis are invited to participate in Stanford University's IGNITE study. Dr. Emmanuel Mignot and Dr. Sergio Muñiz-Castrillo of the Stanford Centre for Sleep Sciences and Medicine are recruiting antibody-positive patients in order to investigate the possible genetic predisposition to autoimmune encephalitis and related disorders.
Encephalitis411 is thrilled to support this groundbreaking study, as the potential contribution of genetics to the development of encephalitis is a hot community topic that remains to be elucidated. Please see the poster below for more information and complete the short screening survey if you are interested. Those selected to participate will be asked to provide a saliva and optional blood sample.

past study: The experiences of children and families impacted by a pediatric encephalitis diagnosis
An Encephalitis411 community member who is completing her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree is looking for U.S-based caregivers of children age 0-17 who have been diagnosed with encephalitis. She is conducting a mixed-methods research study on exploring the experiences of children with chronic neurological conditions and their families as they transition back into their communities.
Please see the poster below for more information. Interested caregivers are asked to complete a 15 minute online survey and optional 60 minute interview.
