Navigating a diagnosis of encephalitis is a daunting challenge! No one is prepared for its medical, emotional or financial hurdles. Many are lost in a world of medical jargon. They need someone knowledgeable who is willing to serve as a sounding board, or to whom they might ask questions. This is especially true if the medical team caring for them has had little experience treating this rare condition.
As part of achieving our mission to improve the quality of life for those impacted by encephalitis, we offer a free hotline service accessible via call, text, or email. We field daily inquiries from family, patients, patient advocates, and healthcare providers, providing resources and guidance for individuals navigating any stage of the encephalitis journey. Some are in a rural area where they can't find sufficient support; others have an established diagnosis and are facing death; and others have just received the diagnosis and are lost.
We strive to meet individuals where they're at, providing personalized support and guidance that empowers them to achieve the best possible outcomes. Calls are typically answered by recovered survivors or those with the lived experience of caring for someone with encephalitis. Our conversations have included:
We are proud to have served countless families in their times of dire need. Little else brings more meaning to our work than to learn that we have facilitated life-saving interventions, served as the connection that enabled the creation of life-long friendships, and shared information that proved critical to achieving better recovery outcomes.
Please contact us at our toll-free hotline 1-833-411-3350 or our email hotline, [email protected]. Messages will be returned in the order received. Although we do have regular business hours, we will help someone in need during any waking hour if possible. Note that we are not a replacement for calling 911 or emergency medical services.
