The idea for Encephalitis411 was 7 years in the making before our launch in 2017. Several years later, we feel so fortunate for what we have accomplished! We've hosted numerous in-person meetings and online learning series, always with a healthcare provider as a speaker. We've reached thousands and thousands of people via Facebook and our Inspire.com forum. Through our hotline, we've helped people during crisis to get reliable information, even saving lives.
Our mission is simply to improve the quality of life for those impacted by encephalitis. Our board is backed by highly esteemed and published medical faculty representing both neurology and infectious disease. Collectively, they have been involved in well over 7,000 encephalitis cases—both infectious and autoimmune—over the span of their careers. The doctors are from Johns Hopkins University Medical Center, the Department of Public Health in California, Brown University, Vanderbilt Medical Center and the University of California at San Francisco. We also have partnerships with many other well-known health organizations including the National Institute of Health, UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Centers for Disease Control.

Research Study
If you have a confirmed Autoimmune Encephalitis diagnosis, are older than 18 and haven’t received immunosuppression other than steroids and plasma exchange, you could qualify for a clinical trial that UT Southwestern is currently conducting.

Understanding Consequences of Encephalitis
We would like to invite all encephalitis patients to participate in a study which surveys for symptoms following encephalitis.
The study is being led by Dr. Venkatesan at Johns Hopkins University in collaboration with Dr. Yeshokumar at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
While encephalitis may result in the development of a number of persistent symptoms, these have not been well studied.
A better understanding of the persistent symptoms in people affected by encephalitis may lead to the development of targeted therapeutic and rehabilitation measures to enhance function and quality of life.
This study will include patients between 18 – 84 years of age who are diagnosed with any form of encephalitis.
The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
If you would like to participate in this study, please fill out this questionnaire:
